Sorry but as an American who has lived in SE Asiia for the past 25 years and Jakarta Indonesia for the past 19 years I have to ask, don't you guys get free service for the first couple of years. Most cars the official dealers sell here are given free service (oil changes ect ect) all you have to do the first 2 years with a Touareg here is put gas/diesel in it and keep tires on it. Everything else is up to the dealer. I assume you guys also get the chance to buy the extensable warranties as well for Euro 330 a year for 2 years afterwards?

I think the 16 year old with a Touareg should appreciate the great car and great parents they have. It's all about priorities, attitude and appreciation. Life is not all about money and things.
thats the way my mom is as well
she wanted a safe car, i wanted a diesel
so we both agreed on a new 09 tdi jetta
great price and fuel mileage just a long a$$ wait (mid oct)

Hey all I can say is if your parents are willing to give you nice things just take care of them because once your on your own things are not as easy as they were when your parents took care of you.

I agree galapagos.. hell I'm 19 and I just got my treg..my parents signed the papers but I pay everything. I didn't get a car when I graduated HS or anything..I used cars my dad bought.. a 94 jeep grand Cherokee and a 97 ford exploder..the newest car we ever have had was a 99 dodge durango before now..
but I got fed up with the ford being and not running or being reliable and demanded a new(er) car. they wanted me to look at new 2008 suvs for $13k etc like saturns and but I am stubborn and I said Treg or nothing..

so here I am a week later What was the occasion to get it? I just graduated with my 2nd associates degree (got the 1st in high school for going to Kent State Uni 11th and 12th grades full time) and my 1st Bachelor degree. I and my family are by far not rich or the least bit wealthy we work hard for what we buy. my dad is self employed and installs satellites and my mum works as a mail carrier..while also being small town *with amish* farmers...so us walking into the VW dealership was totally out of place

many on the mark comments here on the treg. Poor service and attention to detail appears to be VW's biggest challenge right now. I have a treg and a Range Rover and the difference in service levels is astounding. The vehicles were about $14K different in price- granted but only because I chose the supercharged rr sport. I suspect I would have received similar service on an HSE.

VW has much trouble in competing with the likes of Land Rover in terms of customer attention and product support. Save the comments on reliability of the RR...have heard them all and I have had not one problem with the RR...but several with the treg....

Not convinced that I will buy a VW in the future at a price point above $30K.

I'm a VW technician in New Zealand where a lot of rich asian students come for education. They all drive flash cars and heaps of them have new touaregs, fully kitted and with 22insch wheels. The wheels and tyres alone are half of my annual salary its crazy.
