I definitely did...made the mistake of filling up with regular fuel back in December...a day or so later my check engine light came on. Took it into the dealer and they wanted to charge me just to hook it up to the diagnostic machine and turn the "check engine" off and drain/refill the gas tank. Ultimately, the Service Manager just told me to just burn the fuel and the light should go off and it did.

I see many comments about the V8 as pertaining to octane rating. I just bought an '08 T V6. I was wondering if the middle grade (87 octane) would work well in my new V6?

By the way, my new T w/v6 (using premium 91) is real strong. I actually have to be light on the foot and careful not to break the speed limit.

I think most here run Premium as opposed to Regular or mid-range. This preserves maximum performance and negates ANY potential warranty problems from using ower grade fuels.

On the other hand, my Lexus dealer recommends regular for that car which has a very similar high performance V6 and specifies premium fuel. Go figure.....

Thanks. I think I will stick with premium. If I have a warranty issue with the engine, I don't want VW to have any reason to back out.

Fuel - Premium or Regular?

I agree with it , because the engine and its management system changes the performance of the engine.

Interpretation: The Lexus engineers recommend Premium because the engine management system was designed to burn fuel at that octane rating and provide the highest performance/efficiency rating. Your dealer probably is concerned that his customers may balk at Premium cost per gallon and just flippantly throws out a marketing ploy that "he" (expert Lexus engineer) recommends regular.

I haven't had my Treg long enough to prove/disprove my previous experience on this vehicle. In my 99 VR6 Eurovan, on long road trips I found that I came out within pennies comparing the higher octane to lower. I either paid more for higher octane and resulted in better MPG or paid less for the lower and had lower mpg=more gallons. So I use the higher. When I can find it, 93 makes the bus run a lot quicker--still corners like a stagecoach though.

I also have used both and have felt a difference in power and definitely MPG..... but I felt it most in pocket! I usually go through $100 per week. The one time with reg. gas and burned through half a tank in 2 days!!!! never again!
