unforunately I have to agree with CR, at least with my 04 v10. Had it for a year with over $12K in repairs. I was lucky enough to find a dealer willing to trade it in for a Grand Cherokee overland. No the jeep is not nearly as nice as the treg, but it has 106,000 miles and not one problem with it. I use it to tow snowmobiles in the winter and a boat in the summer so it gets a workout. The treg was the nicest truck i've owned by far but I never knew if I was going to get where I was headed.

Comparative Reliability

I have 6800 miles on my '10 TDI, have had absolutely no problems, and love it. I go to the BMW X5 site out of habit (my prior truck was an 08 X5 3.0) and read the numerous angry new X5 owner complaints about discharging batteries (many new owners now routinely leave a trickle charger on each night), urea leaks, gross engine failures, dealer incompetence/ arrogance and parts delays etc., and am thankful that I got the VW; and paid substantially less. The level of angst at that site is quite high.
