I bought my touareg in december 2004. Immediately they had to keep my car for 3 weeks d/t a malfunction in the air bag light. I then had to take my car back for this problem about 3 different times. I then had my entire electronic face w/ the speed, etc go out and it had to be replaced. Since then I have had my car in d/t it dying and the battery dying, I have had to have my engine reset (whatever that means), my transmission reset, as well as other multiple problems. VW has blamed me for a few of the problems and have made me sound stupid. One was I had not changed my oil (not true) and that it was so tarry this is what made my car die while driving it down the road, come to find out there was a malfunction w/ my battery and my electronic system. I did not receive an apology (of course). I have had my car in 3 times for it dragging, hopping or vibrating as I turn my car. VW said it was because I did not have enough air in my tires and that It was suppose to do that. Well I have other mechanics look at it who states it should not happen. I have also had to have my car in because my electronic tire light has gone out. Anyways, to make this sob story shorter. My car has been in the shop 11 times and is on the way again. VW has offered to pay 1 payment and sent me an extended warranty even after I told them I did not want this because every time I talk w/ customer service (which is often) I get that they are working w/ in my warranty. Might I add that they still have not contacted me like I have asked. Oh and pay attention to your service contract that they give you back when you get your car fixed because they lie about how long they keep your car. I had to call enterprise who knows me by name and get records of how long I kept their cars. Oh and last thing, when I bought my 40,000 dollar car, I was promised a car of equal value when my car was in the shop. well for the most part I am given a ford focus completely unloaded, occassionally I get lucky and may get a loaded vehicle worth oh I don't know 20,000 dollars and seeing that they have kept my car for half of what I have driven it I should have bought a ford focus, at least it would have kept running. I am going through the process of sueing for a lemon since VW will not work with me. SORRY for the gripe session, but I wanted everyone to know how VW treats you and how horrible the cars are that they sell. They look nice, but they are just crap that looks good.
