I have replaced my Xenon HID headlamps twice to try different colors and wattage. Very easy process as noted above and I would be happy to walk anyone through it in about 5 minutes. Beats the $550 the dealer wanted to replace the bulbs. The first time was due to the originals flickering, which meant they were on their way out. I found replacements on line for $125 a pair and did it myself. If anyone is interested, I have an extra set of 9000K bright blue bulbs I will let go for $60. I used them for about a month and they work great. Tried a different color ( white) and they are about the same so I stayed with the white.

I would opt for Geoff's next time. He was not offering them when I replaced mine. The ones I bought on EBay only lasted 6 months These are crap: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_6990wt_1109

My recommendation is that even if your lights do not flicker buy a new set from Geoff and install them if you have an 04/05 treg.
It will brighten up the sky at night in other words new xenons made a BIG difference

After the replacement of mine, I couldn't believe how bright the new bulbs were.

Totally agree. You tend to get used to the old bulbs as they die and they seem bright, but they are nothing like a new set. I have an old bulb in with a new one, (waiting for a new set to arrive) and there is a noticeable difference.

Exclamation headlight problems

hi all, I am a new member to this forum. I own a 2006 Touareg V8. I have had to replace all of the bulbs in my headlight assembly at this point. The first time the right side light went out was a couple of months after I bought the car. They said it was a common problem with this car and that most likely the headlight assembly had corrosion. But, when I picked up the car, they said everything looked good and it was just the bulb, over 200.00 to replace it! Then, I had the left side light go about 6 months later, same thing, then I had the right side yellow light, and several months later, the left one. Guess what, i'm back to the right side headlight being out again. I am two years and six months into the car ownership. I bought it new. I've also had issues with the door assemblies and i've noticed corrosion of the metal strips on the luggage rack. It seems this too is common!
Well, my post today is asking for help on how to replace the bulb in the headlight assembly. Is there a step by step instruction posted anywhere?

Thanks Marty, is the 2006 touareg the same assembly as the 2004? I found info on the 2004 and reading thru the prior posts, it seems this has been a problem with all versions. thanks for responding.

sounds like you have the info i'm looking for. I need to replace my bulb on a 2006 touareg V8. do you have written instructions on how to do it? this will be the 5th bulb I replace in a 2 and a half year time frame and i'm tired of paying the dealer to do it. It has happened way too many times.
