Hard Shifting / Range of Remote V8

I just got my V8 back from the Dealer. I took it in becasue I was experiencing a jerking moting when coming off a highway drive (20 miles at about 70-75). I also took it in becasue the range of the remote on the key seemed a bit lame. It only works at a maximum of 6 feet.

They told me that the transmission update for the V8 is not in yet and that the range of the remote is only 6 feet. I do not believe them on either account.

Can someone shed some light on these issues? Also, I have had it with this Dealer. (VW of Valencia) I am going to be moving my extended contract to someone that would like to have my business. Any suggestions of a good one in the Southern California area?

As always, thanks for the assistance.

I just had the transmission flash update done on my V-8 this week in NV and it made a huge difference. Much smoother shifting now. I am sure it is available in so cal if it is available in nevada already. When I asked them to do it they told me they had to test drive it first to make sure there was a problem but I insisted they just do it and they finally did. Either ask them again or call VWOA and I am sure they will help you out and inform the dealer.

As for the remote. I was told that 15 ft. was the average and that is about all that I get after they did the TSB on the remote range. 6 ft is pretty short.

Good luck. -Jake

Your dealership is full of $**t. The tranmission update is not V6/V8/V10TDI specific. Your dealership should be able to read through the TSB and know that

As for the remote range fix, there is also a TSB for that - and your dealership should know about it as well.

For these two simple fixes, it should be a no brainer for your VW shop.... clearly it is... so you should find a new place to do business.
