Driveline & diff problems

I have a base T-reg '06 V8, black (06/05 build). This is my second T-reg and I bought it used from a Chevy dealer last week. My VW dealer was able to tell me that the rear driveline was replaced under warranty at some point. Although he was not at liberty to give me the details of this replacement from his service desk computer, he did tell me the reason for replacement was not abuse related (technically he was not supposed to even give me that info). He then informed that he has seen this problem several times in other T-regs and in each case it was succesfully remedied through the vehicles warranty. Can anybody shed some light on this problem ? Also, the rear diff emits a slight wine/hum under highway cruise, acceleration does not amplify it. However, lifting off the throttle to coast makes the sound disappear. My V6 T-reg's driveline was absolutely silent under all driving conditions. I plan to take it back to VW soon and have the diff noise addressed. Has anybody else experienced this problem, if so can you share your findings?

Drive shaft replacement has been fairly common because of a center bearing that goes bad... I wouldn't worry about it.

Rear diff whine... can't help you there.
