2004 Touareg TPMS "tire monitoring system fail"

Hello, I have a 2004 touareg with 55k miles. the MFI dislays tire pressure monitoring system fail. the 4 tires on the monitor are OK but there is no pressure number in the center column or to better say it states 0.0. Any Ideas????? i am assuming that the battery are ok since that the tires are ok! I put the system into leaarning but it fails and the pressure stays at 0.0. not flat tire no difective wheel onboard is reported. has anyone experienced the same??????
Thank you!!!!!!!!

Unhappy

Hi, we have the same experience with our treg, mine while i'm driving it says flat tire but it's not, I did also on monitoring learning but still the same and says it failed. When I complain this to the dealer where I purchase my treg they say I need to replace my sensor, and it's a litttle bit expensive, I did'nt change it right now coz it's doesn't affect my driving but it's annoying if I focus my attention to what the treg says. And one more thing that shows to my treg is the light, when I turn on my headlight it appears the light warning something like that. The dealer told me that I have a dead bulb (headlight bulb). The dealer sometimes is suck (money hunger) but I can't do nothing but to asked them fix and pay.

The 2004 sensors are failing. If you do a search you can read several posts about it.

Take a look at this post:

Thank you!!!!
the dealer looked the system for two hours and says that they need more time to figure out what is wrong. I am suspecting that it is the module.

You probably have a bad module since you are not getting the flat or defective wheel on board messages. They should be able to detect what is going on unless they are that inept at looking for stuff.

Just had the same problem took to dealer said it would be $40.00 to se whats wrong, came back and said my computer board was bad and could not get a reading that it would be $1,000.00 to replace +$129.00 per wheel to replace the tpms. I asked him to disconect he said it is manitory now, I told him it only for 2008 and up I have the 04 V8 I bought new form them, he went and talked to some and said he would disconect it for $196.00 had him do it,I felt like I had been had but I was not going to pay over $1500.00 to tell me I needed air but I use nitrogent. Now this has been my only problem

Try to ask second opinion to other dealer or service shop, I think the charge is too much.
