2004 coolent fan stays on
Hi I have a 2004 V6, when you turn it off the fan keeps running for about 10 minutes, doesnt matter if its cold or not, any suggestions?

mine does that to...i think all touaregs do that..i've heard about 5 of them do the same thing

Nope, not normal at all. As Jimbuffalo pointed out, it's more than likely a faulty sensor. I'd get it checked out before it wipes out your battery and leaves you stranded.

Should it stay on at all?,My new 08 runs for 30 seconds or so after I turn the key off.

30 secs with warm engine is normal behaviour.

richard, mine did the same few weeks ago. i also have a 2004 V6. while i was waiting for my appointment, it temporarily drained the battery and on one occasion, my truck didn't want to start. problem was a faulty coolant sensor. it's a $30 or so part that required 3 hours of labor to replace, yikes! but again, take care of it sooner than later because it's going to drain your battery.

The FSI engines seem to run a bit hotter, and I've seen them leave the cooling fan on after shutting the engine off. I think the fan may have run for 30 seconds or so, definitely not 10 minutes. This was on an FSI V8 at the Rally last year.

The minor (30sec. to 1min.) running of a fan after the engine is shut off is normal, however if you experience longer durations this needs some attention.
