Canadian V10 Owners?

I am this close to purchasing a V10 TDI from the states. I live in the Okanagan where occasionally, we can get winter weather down in to the -30C range for a few days. Typically, though, winter is in the -10s. What is the V10 like to start on those cold winter days. Do you have to plug it in? I ask, because I don't have a place to plug it in at the school where I work.

Thanks for your help.

Mike

Just got a V10 and the last week in Calgary -15-20 c and the glowplug light hardly stays on before start, I was told blockheaters are not required anymore, so its not even an option. Surprising, since my first diesel, a 86 jetta wouldn't start below -10 unless plugged in for several hours.

You're welcome. Got mine on e-bay. But use caution. There is a nice offroad gray 2007 there now that I bid on last month, But there is something fishy about it, the guy wanted to do the deal outside of e-bay, it was an unrealistic low price and he wanted my full name and address right away. It was reported then taken off ebay, and now I see its back, same pics different name.

Hey Mike,

I live in kelowna and just got a Blk V10 about a month ago. There was a white one for sale in kelowna that I saw on ebay. I bought mine from a guy that imported it from the USA, he had to wait a long time to get the emissions sticker for it from Transport canada. I would look into this if I where you!

Some of that really does sound odd but I've sold 2 vehicles "via" ebay. The buyers want to deal direct, which worked out fine both times. I let my bank verify funds and such from a certified check, then we sign everything. My banker also acted as an intermediary for us by holding a deposit from them. That way he was not concerned about me screwing him and me not holding a car for someone who might back out later.

They are always very slow with the sticker (usually 2-3 months)..doesn't make any difference you can still register it and drive around all you want.

Hi,
I just bought a V10 from Portland, Oregon.
Having it shipped to Boston as we speak. I'll fly down and drive it to the rock

I found a guy on the list who lives just outside Boston and owns a large brake shop for trucks. He has a Touareg and researched brakes and rotors.....sold me a complete front and rear brake package for the V10 for $691....(I like spare parts as the dealers are nuts)

There is also a guy on the list in Portland, Oregon who can get you all your filters, oil and so forth for a great price.

It might not be this list, but either the vwvortex or the ClubTDI forums

Apparently you need the 50400/50700 oil for the diesel even though the dealers say that 50501 is good enough.
