Howdy! I'm actually in Ohio for several more days, but I'll be back soon.

We'll have to set up a meet sometime, maybe go play around on some trails or something...

Matt

As long as you are playin on the trails in the Treg and not on the bike of your bike. You need full protection when offroading!!

Matt, How was the trip from Vegas? I saw a shadow blue Treg on 70 eastbound between Columbus and Springfield on the 26th. Might it have been you?

Nope, the Touareg is snuggled up in the garage. I'm in a 4-cylinder Malibu from Alamo. I'm missing my heated seats and REST heater, that's for sure.

Trip to Caliente

After an out of the way detour to St. George for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel (love the Uncle Hershel’s breakfast), we headed back south again. At mile marker 100, which is just north of the Logandale exit you will find the Carp/Elgin exit. The road starts out paved as it parallels I-15 then turns to a well groomed dirt road as it heads north. It's about 40 miles to Carp. Left at Carp will take you to Moapa, right takes you to Caliente. Good dirt road for 15 or so miles then it changes to paved. Three years ago there was quite a flood and they have not repaired the paved road to Caliente but it's still passable. Be careful as some places are washed out, and rock slides cover parts of the road.

Hey, I'm from Vegas too!!!! ok, guess you knew that. Making a report.

I'll have to look at the Caliente trails more. Many of the Vegas 4x4 clubs often play near Logandale. I recently had fun over at Apex for an all-clubs Toys-for-Tots meet - mostly sand dunes (dump the air, ESP-off, weeeeeeeeee!!!) with a few interesting rocky areas to climb up. A few of us have been talking about doing Potato Gulch behind Red Rock.

I also recreate in the Tecopa area - Alexander Hills, Sperry Wash, Western Talc, Furnace Creek and Kingston area. Its where I learned to play.

Yes, we got to get a meet going. We did a bit of a dry run learning how to do one for the Colorado Rally convoy - Vegas stop; our notes and picture spots are fairly fresh.

Hey now, no elbow pads were harmed in the scarring/infecting of my arm.

If I had only been in a Touareg at the time...

(For those that don't know, I wiped out on my dirtbike a while back, which caused some injury to my left arm. All's good with the arm now though)

'08 Rally

Well I'm thinking about attending the '08 rally and my '08 Touareg V6 is rather stock. What do you guys recommend I do to better equip my ride, or is stock good enough?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Most of our rigs are stock. The only real upgrades people have done are skidplates (from MountainLord) or better tires for off-roading.
