Is it possible to determine any options via the VIN? I realize you can probably get engine/transmission.

Search around the forums. There is a vin checker somewhere on here. Just do a Google search within the forum.

Dealers have access via your VIN to every detail in respect to what was installed into your vehicle at the time of building. This is sourced from the VW database VAS.

The online tools that decode the build codes found in your owners manual and in you spare wheel well will give you the basic information. However the VAS/ELSA system will give you every single part number used in the build. I have spent quite a bit of time with my local spare parts manager "exploring" my car. Not much use if you are trying to retrofit options, unless you have the VIN for a vehicle that came with the option you're trying to install.

ACC, Front & Side Assist, Paddle Shift, Towbar & Trailer Module, Fiscon Bluetooth. Every owner should ask their local dealer to print off the data sheets for their car. Also known as the build sheets these pages detail everything on your car.
