Larger bin closer to the windshield in the dash storage. If you follow the instructions for removal found on tregcentral (http://www.tregcentral.com/downloads/VW-DSBins.pdf) you can easily cut a hole in there. I then took a dock extender (SendStation - Products - Dock Extender) and glued the "extender" to the base, glued the whole thing into the bin, then plugged the iPod cable into the bottom of that. Basically puts a dock connection into the storage bin rather than having a loose wire. Experimented with lots of docks, only solution i could find that fit easily.
