Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD Install... Anyone have DVD bypass instructions??

Hey everyone. I am new to clubtouareg.com. I purchased an 04 silver V8 in February, and so far, I am loving the car(all the TSB's and recallas have been checked out...).

I had a JVC in dash DVD player in my Pathfinder that I had bypassed myself by grounding the e-brake wire, so I was able to watch my Magnum PI whilst driving. I know, I know, it's illegal, etc.

SO I just finished installing the Pioneer unit in my TReg, and it's AWESOME, except, I cannot for the life of me get the DVD function to work. Is there some sort of special bypass trick? Can anyone help me out?

I've been reading on the web elsewhere, and it seems that you can bypass it through some sort of switch. However, I have used this forum to help by my car through the great advice... so... is there anyone out there with a TReg that has this same system, or similar, that can help me?

Thanks in advance...
M

Yee-hah!

Nevermind everyone. I got it taken care of through a switch at Radio Shack that cost $3.00! If anyone needs instructions, post here, and I'll get em to you.

Thanks!

Nice install, did you do it yourself? If so how hard was it?

I did, got it all from crutchfield.com, about $650 all said and done, including the three dollar switch from Radio Shack. It's a super tight compartment in the dash, so it takes some patience to get it all to slide in... with all the e-brake wiring issues, it took about two and half hours.

But, the iPod adaptor works really good, and the sound of the factory speakers is actually really impressive.

I heard that the Avic D3 has some wires you can actually ground to run the bypass, so you dont have to use a switch... I would take it to a mom and pop stereo place, cuz they'll usually offer up some info on how to bypass... also, google the bypass instructions, I found a lot of info on the Avic D3 while I was trying to figure out mine. Did you get the double-din Scosche dash adaptor and all the wiring harness? It's pretty simple once you pop the old head unit out... never had any experience with the bluetooth stuff, but I heard it's pretty simple, plug and play...
