I need those instructions
Just installed this unit in my 2006 Passat and I am having the same issue - no DVD display even when the parking brake is set. If you would, please post the details for the switch.

Hey ewaynek. For the DVD bypass I used a Momentary Pushbutton Switch, Normally Closed, rated 0.5A at 125VAC, 0.3A at 50VDC. The part number is 275-1548 at Radio Shack. That was for a pack of four.
Run that green wire(thats supposed to go to the e-brake) to one side, and then run a wire from the other side to a grounded connection... I actually ran this wire to a bolt on the e-brake! Turn it on, push the button, and it should work. Let me know if you have problems.

Wow, it is very strange that all it takes is a momentary switch that grounds the circuit. I have the PAC C2R-VW adapter installed which is supposed to take care of the parking brake sensing circuit. The only time it works is when the green wire is connected to the parking brake wire AND as long as the parking brake light is illuminated. When the brake light goes out after about 15 seconds the DVD picture is replaced with the warning screen.

Hello I just purchased the Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD as well. If possible can you tell me what I need to buy and how to do it so I can play movies in motion. I don't know how to do the bypass. I really would appreciate it if someone can help me. Thanks..

marvdoc30: Get everything installed, and leave that green E-Brake wire hanging out somewhere you can access it...
Then go to Radio Shack... For the DVD bypass I used a Momentary Pushbutton Switch, Normally Closed, rated 0.5A at 125VAC, 0.3A at 50VDC. The part number is 275-1548 at Radio Shack. It's like 3$... That was for a pack of four. Run that green wire(thats supposed to go to the e-brake) to one side, and then run a wire from the other side to a grounded connection... I actually ran this wire to a bolt on the e-brake! Turn it on, push the button, and it should work. Let me know if you have problems.

TXTreg20, it did not work for me. After checking the installation manual again it looks like the other side of the switch needs to be connected to power - "This lead needs to be connected to the power supply side of the parking brake switch."
