Need expert audio advice
Hi all. I've been reading pages and pages of your posts for a few days now really trying to understand which electonics are and are not available for the 2005 Touareg w/ navi and the premium II sound system. I currently drive an Acura MDX and I am in the market for a new SUV. I have done a lot of shopping and I picked out a Touareg that I love. 2005 V8, Offroad Gray, premium sound system w/navigation, cold package etc. The thing that's stopped me from ordering it is the lack of available electronics. Most of the other SUV 's that I looked at include an ipod interface, satellite radio and bluetooth... while the Touareg has none of these things.
I have no problem installing an aftermarket bluetooth kit but I can't seem to understand exactly what my audio options are. For example, is the Phatbox out of the question because of the 2005 DVD navi? Does Alpine make an aftermarket system that can offer audio options and can be used with the factory DVD navi from VW? Does a basic satellite install with FM modulation sound decent? Does the ITRIP work with the Touareg? Is there any way to have a direct connection for satellite with the factory DVD navi? I've got a zillion of these questions. Basically I love the Touareg but I'd like to have at least Satellite Radio and the ability to play my IPOD or MP3's somehow. I really want the Touareg (not the MDX or BMW)! Can someone really sum up the options for me?

If you get the Touareg DVD navigation, you will have one mono phone input (for a bluetooth phone kit) and one stereo auxiliary input (for XM, iPod or some other audio device). There are also kits to to connect an iPod to the CD changer input for either the nav or standard radio. See link below.

So if I understand this correctly... the Phatbox is out. But... I can get the bluetooth kit installed using the mono phone input that is available with the factory equipment AND there will be one auxilary input available for XM. So I won't have to use the XM that uses FM modulation but I can have the direct connection... right? And... after all that... I can buy a kit to attach the IPOD to the CD changer located in the rear of the vehicle even WITH the navi. This may be what I need to select the Touareg over the other vehicles....

Yes, you could do the bluetooth, the XM to the one audio AUX and the iPod to the Blitzsafe MLINK via the CD changer port.
