Navteq, Blaupunkt RNS-2 and Teleatlas.

Does anyone know if Navteq makes Nav CD's for Germany? I emailed them but they could not give me a straight answer. I went to my VW dealer over here in Germany and we tried the German "Teleatlas" CD's but they would not load.

So my other question is, what is the difference between the RNS-2 Nav system they put in the German version versus the US version? Maybe it's just the operating software loaded where certain versions can only read Navteq and others on Teleatlas? Is it possible to switch this "operating system" sort of speak?

I was about to lay 300 EURO down to get the German Teleatlas CD's, glad I didn't seeing as it wouldn't have worked. God only know why... or maybe one of you do!

I'm curious about this too (NAV system versions). I just ordered and installed a NAV system that I purchased from a German e-bay seller. When the NAV turns on, I get the VW Logo splash screen that says "Radio Navigation S2", and then on of course to the dreaded warning screen. Is this (RNS-2) the same system (and called the same thing on the splash screen, etc.) as the unit that is installed from the factory in North American units? If not, what is the difference?

The NAVTEQ CDs I ordered (North American), with the latest version (2B) of maps work just great in my unit. I did get the "updating Flash memory" screen the first time I put the new NAVTEQ CDs in, but I heard that was standard behavior with new CD versions (new NAV software/updates).
