My nav run slow. If I follow the screen I will miss the turns as if I follow the dashboard arrow it seems on tiem.
Does anyone knows if there is a quick fix?

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself
No, I do not think this can be sped up / adjusted. Some aftermarket GPS units allow adjustment of the distance before a turn when the voice warning first prompts you, but this is not available on the VW factory NAV.

Try recalibrating the unit. I don't know if the procedure survived the server crash but I made a text file copy of it some while ago: Quote:

Hey guys a little help would be great.
I have had my Treg for over 3 months now and I know that most already know that the NAV is a POS!! I figuired i would give it a chance and have been using it fairly frequently for the past 2 months. I am now even more convinced that this thing should have never been installed in this car and the cost of this *&^&&&^% is way too much for what it does and doesnt do. I really hope that there is a fix for it soon.
Anyway, one of the main problems I am having is the inacurate possitioning that it has of the vehicle. If I am at a corner of a block it shows I am about 100-150 feet behind where I really am, if I am on a service road, it shows I am on the main highway. Because of this the directions it is spewing out are totaly wrong, it says make a left but I should be making a right etc... Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of it or teach it the actual position of where you are? I hope that can solve the problem. I have had 4 cars in the past 6 years with NAV and NEVER had even close to the issues with NAV that this POS does. Even my wife's little garmin is 10x more accurate as well as faster on responce that my $2k+ hunk of junk. Dont even get me started on street names.

You need to calibrate your system. It isn't hard but the procedure isn't explained in the manual. When I get a chance, I will go out to my car, write it down and post it here. Won't be today though as I am riding a motorcycle today, not driving my car.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, you have to drive to a known intersection on the map, parking as close to the corner as possible. The best is a T intersection so you are not confused as to which road you are on at the junction.
Zoom the map in to 0.05 mile zoom.
Press the NAVI button.
Press the SETUP softkey on the right side of the display.
Press the POS. ON MAP softkey on the left side of the display.
Confirm that you are still zoomed in on the 0.05 mile level.
Using the softkeys on the left side of the display, rotate the cursor to the correct direction you are parked.
Using the softkeys on the right side of the display, move the cursor to the correct location you are parked.
Press OK.
You have now calibrated your position and direction of travel on the map. Hopefully you will have better accuracy with the nav system.

Spock, you forgot the step about waving your hand out the window so the people behined you at the intersection don't just sit behind you and honk while you diddle with the nav controls.

Perhaps in Chelmsford there isn't a free intersection but here in Central CT we have enough of them that sitting at an intersection for 2 minutes isn't a big deal.

Plenty of time in Chelmsford, but I was thinking of the original poster, who is in NYC. Of course he may have plenty of time when stuck in traffic...
