My '05 refuses to play burned CDRs
I tried playing couple of Audio CDRs in Treg, but with no success. One CD I burned using Nero and the second one using windows media player. When I insert either one of them, CD player comes back with an error and ejects the CD. Has anyone encountered the same problem.
Thanks |

Depending on the speed it is being burned, and the media that is used, there may not be enough contrast on the disc for the CD Player to read it. If your cd-burner drive is old, the laser could also be getting weak, also causing a lack of contrast.
Reco's= Use quality media (Memorex, Fuji, and TDK are my favs), burn it slow, and make sure it is set to CD-Audio format, not any other format like MP3, etc. Matt

I'm using a FujiFilm CDRs, so I don't think that's the issue. On the other hand, they are not stamped with the speed rating. Currently I'm burning at 24x, so that could be a little on the fast side. I have an LG Cd burner, which is about 5yrs old now. Maybe it's time for the new one. Miraculously both CDs starting working, so maybe decreasing the burning speed might help after all.
Either way thanks for your reply. |

You're welcome. Generally, I don't burn audio above 8x. Try that, as I've had success since dropping the speed down.
Good luck, Matt

Had same issue, except I changed brand names from Sony to Memorex and everything went smooth! Memorex will play in anything!

I've also noticed that Sony media sucks dog balls. I have had the best luck with tdk, next best I would say memorex.

your dealer is a f**king moron. I could be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure the cd player uses a lazer and its either going to read or not I fail to see how any disk could damage the player. Even if you were to stick a DVD into it it won't read but i dont see it causing damage to the player.

I've found that the cd player in the front unit will play disks made on CD-RW cds, but the 6 stacker cd in the back is more fussy, returning a error on disks that will play in the front.
It does seem to play a no name read only (CD-R) disk that I burned at low speed, so I guess I'll need to invest in some tdk or memorex disks. That's a shame, but thanks for the post. Does anyone know if the standard cd unit will play mp3s of a CD? A friend with a VW Caravelle claims his does. I've not tried it, but it would be terrific if it did in the Touareg!

Should not matter CDRW or regular CD, cause regular original CD's were once burnt onto also!
