FAKRA Antenna cable color coding

Does anyone know what the color coding is for AM and FM? I need to convert from dual FAKRA to DIN. My OEM colors are Tan and White. The pig tails I have are Yellow and Black (picture is just for reference). Any help appreciated (other than go and test them please)

AM antenna is generally monpolar, whereas FM is bipolar.

Check that single bare wire lead for continuity with one of the FAKRA plug central electrodes, and you should have identified your AM antenna.

You mean the blue power wire with one of the Fakra?

They both carry AM and FM, the lighter one is the main signal, when the OEM radio sense that the signal drops its switches to the other one (this is how the diversity antenna routing works).

Nick you're saying then it doesn't matter which gets connected to what? Reason I ask is that the DIN box has clearly marked AM and FM leads to connect the two OEM ones to. It then has a power lead (blue wire) which I assume is if you're not getting good enough reception and the DIN plug which goes into the HU.

TIA

PS I tried the blue wire to (knowing which one it is as it's labeled) center connector of the Fakra and I got nothing - didn't think I would somehow... so which wire is it...

Isn't the blue wire/s power booster/s for antenna? Haven't looked at the drawings for a while but I kind of recall something like that in Elsawin

Yes it's for boost or in the old days for the electric antenna which is why I can't understand what bare wire I'm supposed to check against the Fakra for continuity.

Siberian, you are indeed a man of perserverance! Good onya for not letting the m@th@f@cker of a HU get you down man. Mine is still good by the way. BTW - NickM clearly has a Touareg fetish digging up some stuff.....which given this site, seems healthy.

Nick I just have AM and FM with a DIN going in to the HU. I'm not a radio ham so I don't really know which goes where but from looking at the DIN connector I'm not sure it makes a difference. Appreciate the pointer but can't understand how it relates to what I have.

Slurper, this is the new unit. The Maisun is working perfectly!
