Factory Fitted BlueTooth

Hi All

I have an 06 V10 that came with a "phone kit" in the coentre console.

I have confirmed with VW that the Touaregs (mine does but then could not tell me what package this is included in or if it is a base option) now come with the neccessary Blue Tooth hardware factory fitted.

According to the local VW factory rep the VW has apparently not released the use of this to owners yet because the software is not yet stable (or working properly).

To see if you have this in your vehicle you have +- 1 min after starting (if you start and then stop it appears that you have to open and close the door to turn the radio off). during this time do a discovery with you phone to see if you can find and pair with it.

The Codes are apparently one of "1111" "0000" "1234" "4444"

I have only tried a iMate JasJar which found a "VOLKSWAGEN UHV" device with hands free functionality but the car the connects to the phone just after start with a sound through the radio and the a few sections later the radio produces another sound which i guess is either a disconnect or error.

If anyone else has tried this let me know I would be interested to know what you found.

Really frustrating to have this functionality and not be able to use it

regards

Brett

I don't have any suggestions, as this is the very first OEM Bluetooth kit I have heard about. Can you tell us all what country you are located in?

Hi aircooled

I am in South Africa. I believe that it is part of the standard fittings in all late 05 and 06 Touaregs

cheers

Yes, that's right BrettHolmes

Many people from the Spanish forum http://www.forotouareg.com are enjoining this option.

The thing is (more or less): The people who have 05' Touareg or later with a hands free kit installed in the center console (PR: PR-9W4) and the dedicated buttons in the wheel, have already installed a bluetooth device fully operative after the activation via VAG-COM. There are many VW hands free options (PR-9W9, PR-9W8, PR-9ZF y PR-9W4), but only the PR-9W4 can work in bluetooth mode.
Apparently, the main hands free ECU (under the dashboard) uses the bluetooth protocol to communicate with the telephone cradle (on the center console). Could be a wire saving issue or not, but the two units uses the bluetooth communication protocol.
So, in case you have the PR-9W4 option already implemented, all you need it's to activate it via VAG-COM.
In case you haven't, you can order all the stuff:
7L6035729F - Bluetooth ECU
8P0035503E - Bluetooth Antenna
7L6035317 - Center console holder
In case you have the older thelephone option (the big "horn" holder installed on the dashboard -7L6035729-) you can communicate the two ECU (the new bluetooth one and the older one) rewiring it "pin by pin" or using a special harness.
Anyway I didn't implemented this in my car because already have a Parrot bluetooth kit so I don't know exactly all the information but, the one who are interested in implement this option can check the original thread in Forotouareg: http://www.forotouareg.com/2006/view...er=asc&start=0
Lot of info about it but… in Spanish.

Best regards.

Javier, what success have owners without phone kits had on retrofitting this? VW North America does not offer any telephone option for Touaregs. We can add aftermarket systems, like the Parrot series, but I like the MFI integration I was seeing over on ForoTouareg!

Hi Aircooled.

As I say before, I didn't follow this issue in deep but, as far I remember, many Treg users (maybe ten) who have the PR-9W4 option previously installed have activate it via Vag-Com successfully. But only one user have buyed and installed the 7L6 035 729 F interface box, the antenna and the cradle. He gets the system working successfully after install everything and recode the unit, but this person have the old system (big holder over the dash board) previously installed, and need an interface harness to adapt the old connectors to the new system ones.

One picture of the interface cable (manufactured by KUFATEC) to illustrate the thread:

And one picture of the interio of 7L6 035 729 F interface box (of course it comes in a perfect sealed box):

Best regards.

More Info

Hi Javier

Thanks for the info, I have tried to follow the spanish site you sent us to and got some limited milage uilising bablkefish to translate the pages.

I have traced down a linked article that describes the configuration of An Audi. It appears that The Audi and Touareg have similar systems. There are some warings though about using the incorrect settings and diabling K-Lines.

I was wondering if in you reviewing the site you gave us they had any specifics details for the settiungs oin a Touareg that you would use to VAG the Telephone Controler.

I have scanned my car with a VAG and have controll at address 77 which is the Telephone (same as Audi) an I am a little apprehesive to make any mods as I am not sure of the impact particulry in the area where you have to select the components of the telephone . I warns not to use the ones that have no k-line as that will immediatly disconnect the k-line (not sure what disconnect the kiline ,means).

The options for the is as follows

Coding - Function 07
HU = Head Unit (i.e. RNS-D/E)
MFL = Multifunction Steeringwheel

?xxxx: type (car)
0 - with CAN-bus (A2, A3, TT)
1 - D3/C6 High-System
2 - C6 Standard-System

x?xxx: type (Steeringwheel)
0 - non multifunction steering wheel
1 - standard steering wheel
2 - modular steering wheel

WORRIED about these ones

xx?xx: installed components
1 - none warning uing this will disconnect the k-line
2 - MFL warning uing this will disconnect the k-line
3 - HU warning uing this will disconnect the k-line
4 - MFL and HU warning uing this will disconnect the k-line
5 - K-line
6 - MFK and K-line
7 - HU and K-line
8 - MFL, HU and K-line

xxx?x: language for voice control
0 - voice control off
1 - German
2 - English (UK)
3 - French
4 - Italian
5 - Spanish
7 - English (US)
8 - Voice control from external device (i.e. RNS-E)

Hi BrettLHolmes

I'm not familiarized at all with the Vag-com issues and, as I say peviously, my handsfree it's a Parrot, but I ask to the spanish person who do the modification looking for help for you.

I will keep you informed.

Best regards.

Hi BrettLHolmes.

Prior to ask to Syncro (the Spanish member of Forotouareg who do the BT modification) I have revised his last post about this issue. As he say in the massage http://www.forotouareg.com/2006/view...?p=28343#28343

Quote:

More or less, a "free" translation of that is:

"In my concrete case, I recodify the telephone system to 455, and set the channel 133 to "1" and the 134 to "0" and everytihng works. The main thing it's the channel 134, it's setting to "1" by default and the system it's not visible to any BT device until you change the setting to "0". That's happens in the vehicles with the 9W4 option previously installed, when they installed the cradle the BT system works but only with a concrete telephone model, but when you remove the terminal from the base station the BT system does not work.

In other systems couldn't be as easy as in my case, depending of the car equipment you may have to recodify some other devices as the radio, nav, comfort device (N.T: I don't know the correct word for comfort setting main processor), steering wheel, and so on."

I hope this "miser" translation will help you, in any case, he didn't say anything about disabling the K-lines or so, so you can try to change the channel 133 and 134 without any risk.

Best regards.
