I have had two sets of Pirelli Scorpion Zeros and they only last 30K miles. They are great when new, but aft you get past the 50% wear they get very noisy and winter driving decays.
I just purchased the Hancook Ventus, but when the tire dealer got them in they were the wrong size. They suggested the Dunlap Sport 5000. Fortunately they give 30-day test drive. These tire are not designed for the Touareg, they are soft sidewall tires and this causes the sure-footiness of the Touareg to be sloppy. Lots of leaning and sway motion is experienced. I found out the these designed for Mercedes SUV which has a completely different suspension then the Touareg. I am having the Hancooks put on as soon as then get the right size in. |

Ok, so I've had three tregs and this is the tire breakdown.
2004 V8 number 1: Stock Pirellis, lasted 18k miles (2) sets of pirelli ice and snow, lasted 25k each traded it in with a crappy set of continentals. 2004 V8 number 2: Stock continentals, 21k miles Toyo open country AT's, traded in with 60k on the odo and still had tread. 2006 V10: Pirelli P-Zeros, 11k miles right now, won't make it to 15k. Got two years, almost 20,000 from my Pirelli Zeros Ice/Snow. Just switched to General Grabber UHP's - don't know yet. But they sure are grippy and quiet.

New CONTI tires on when purchased in NOV of 07, in need of new tires going to tire shop this afternoon if the rain stops here for long enough to get out. Junk. But they came on the car. Going to grab something with a bit more rugged tread. Not sure yet.
