TPMS without TPMS Sensors on Wheels

I have a 2008 with TPMS and want an extra set of wheels for the summer tires. The snows are already on the original wheels. Getting new wheels with the TPMS sensors is real expensive when compared to wheels without the sensors. Has anybody used wheels without sensors and what issues do you deal with?

You will probably deal with the fact that it will scream at you evertime you use it with those wheels on since there will be no sensors in them. You will get defective wheel on board everytime you run it, unless they made a major change to the system from the earlier one.

You can shut the TPMS off but will get a warning every time you start the car. Or buy TPMS sensors from Tire Rack for about $100 each and have them installed in your wheels.

Check around for the sensors. They are on E-Bay and lots of shops are now carrying them. NAPA and Wal-Mart have them. You don't have to pay dealer list.

It is actually the valve stem so you would not have to do it, the tire place would. Just buy them and take them with you when you get your tires mounted.

Sorry, there is no way for me to tell that. I guess you would need to know the frequency at which they transmit and the same with the Touareg sensors.
