TPMS Removal DIY!!

I have some good news if you have a VAG Com cable, software and a serious dislike for this system. I followed directions to a post made awhile ago in thread at VWVotex to totally disable the TPMS in your 04 - 07 Treg. This is assuming that they are all the same system up to 07, I know 08 is totally different. Here is the thread link for the directions: VWvortex Forums: VW Touareg - Help disabling TPMS and Airbags . It is in the next to the last post in that thread. If you need to know where the module is located here is another link:
vw.7l.cl.j502 Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module (J502.pdf

Procede at your own risk on this and as they say do not try this at home. The directions were there and I took a chance on it myself. I am just the only one to report back that it does work. Here is a picture of what the module looks like out of the car.

TPMS disable

real simple proceedure if you have VAG-COM, VAS 5052, shade tree software, ect...

1) under the dash find the TPMS module

2) unplug the module

3) cycle key on & off

4) recode vehicle central electrics module useing same codeing#
if the codeing is 0006 just recode useing the same codeing # 0006 .
cycle key on & off, remove key, reinstall key then restart vehicle. clear codes and you are ready for the road.
NOTE: this will work on Touareg up to 2007

How do you remove/unclip the TPMS module wiring harness? I cant seem to get the harness disconnected. Is there a trick to it?

It is actually easier if you unbolt it from the car to give you a little more room.

OK guys I found the TPMS module. Unplugged it.
found this unit with VAG COM, recoded it. 0000006.
cycled key off and then started the Treg.
So far now tire pressure warning (one did come on when I unplugged it!)
I reinstalled the module just so I would know where it its. Used cable tie to secure the wiring to it so it would not flop around.
will report after I have driven it long enough for the system to either show a code or not.

If you followed the directions it will no longer show up. The car has no clue it is even there anymore. I still have the sensors in my wheels and will remove them when I get a new set of tires. Module is inactive so sensors are now worthless.

Can you re hook it up to work? I have summer wheels without sensors but the winter wheels have the sensors. So can you take it out during summer and install it back in at winter and will it work then?

TIA, Jeff

If you follow the directions, yes you could do it that way. I have been running w/o my module for many months now and the car does not even know the sensors are there since there is no module looking for them. It is not iffy at all if you follow the directions. It took me awhile myself to find the directions and when they were posted the guy who wanted to try it never reported back. So I did and reported back that it does work. I still have the antennas and sensors on the car, but no module. No, you don't have to remove it, I just did.
