So I finally got the Cooper AT3 265/65/R18 installed and I think they look great. The reason for wanting these was to give me some more ground clearance and some peace of mind when driving in the Omani Mountains.

They are definitely on the limit with regards to size, I have about a fingers width of room when the front tire is on full lock, maybe at little less. But it's just plastic, no intercooler or anything behind the inner fender.

Looks awesome, I wonder if any contact would happen if you did have an intercooler.

I run the 285/60R18 Cooper ZEON LTZ's on 2012 V8 TDi. Don't think the intercoolers change/reduce any clearance on the inside of the wheel arches. Have a look at a post I made in this thread. Regards, D

would a 265/70/17 BFG All Terrain fit on a 17" Canyon wheel for a 2013 Touareg TDI?

I would think you are getting awfully close to the max tire size. That tire size has an OD of 803mm, which is larger than mine. I would not go with that without some kind of additional modification.

That's gotta limit the suspension travel on a steel suspension car.

265/70/17 will fit according to the 2 members running them... BUT

In my experience BFG AT's run a little taller and a little wider than other tires of the same size.

My Tacoma rubbed bigtime with BFG AT's, but doesn't rub with my general grabber AT's. Both tires were the same size; 265/70/17.

BFG's are also old. They are loud, poor traction by today's standards and are awful for MPG. I know BFG released a new tire, but the tread is the same. The only thing they have going for them is they look great.

Hankook Dynapro's have been topping everyone charts are the current best AT tire out there currently. If you want a more aggressive tire, lots of people swear by the Duratrac.
