Please Help With Snow Wheel/Tire Combo

I will be driving up to Salt Lake City often during the winter months. In fact, I am here right now and it's gonna snow tomorrow. Currently, my summer tires are the factory 19" P-Zero's. 2 questions for you guys......1-What is the cheapest wheel and size that would look decent on the T-reg? 2- What snow tire would you run and size. Take into consideration that I will be in DEEP snow. Thanks everyone. P.S. - I did a search and came up with very little.

I have my stock 17's with Nokian WR's and it works fine here in SLC. I only see some rain in the forecast here not sure what you are looking at. I take it you came up here for some skiing for the holiday? I have not been out yet for I have become a snow snob since moving here 6 years ago. I have been quite pleased with the Nokians and had them in some deep snow last winter. They work fine.

No...up here for Turkey. Visiting the wife's parents. Off of I-80 and 24th in Holladay. I almost lost the Touareg last year in a freak blizzard on UT-20. Don't want that to ever happen again. BTW, do you ever get the red devil teeth from the proximity sensors when it snows? Every time I come up here it does that. Drives me CRAZY. Doesn't work until a couple days later when I'm back in AZ.

I will be watching the posts here for more info as I too reside in SLC and don't want to "lose" my Treg

I don't have parking sensors on my Treg so I will never experience this behavior. I think the Nokian WR's would be a good choice since you don't have a specific need for full on snow tires, but even at that they still work good up here and I have been impressed with them as well as my Treg in snow.

If I was going to go that route, probably the Hakka's. I mean if the WR's are that good as an all season, the full on snows of the Hakka's have to be excellent. But honestly I felt fine with the WR's last year and I am sure they will be just as good this season.

Well, as you know...It dumped pretty good last night. I was in Park City last night eating and it snowed a lot in a short amount of time. Accidents everywhere. Had several white-outs. Now, it's time for me to leave to go back to AZ and the roads are crap. Gonna have to get those tires sooner rather than later....... Oh yeah....we are going the Vegas route......yay.

Where did you buy the Nokians? I have searched everywhere here in SLC and no one seems to carry them. Plus, what size are you running? Cause, everyone I call says the 275/45/19 are a rare size to carry. We had to turn around tonight and head back to the parents house since we were following a nasty snow storm. And I just looked...the P-Zero's have NO tread left.

There was a decent listing of dealers from Nokian's website for SLC. I don't live there so I can't vouch for any of them. Tire Rack got me a set in a few days though, so you'd just need someone to mount and balance them. Nokian's customer service is fairly promt from my experience so if you can't find a dealer you could probably call them and get the information you needed.

To add my piece, unless you need the dedicated snow tire like the Hakka, the WR does nicely all year round. The guy that mounted mine couldn't believe I had 25k on them when he balanced them last week. Plenty of tread for at least one more year I'd say.
