Dealer said inner pads are around 3 or 4 mm. Can't explain why the wear light went out. They said I should do pads, rotors and sensors. For a grand total of $1,150. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

NO thanks.

Front may wear more:

Do you live where it rains alot? Because the rotor 'dryer' brake program runs when wipers are on.

They pulse the brakes slightly, to scrape water off while wipers are on.

So wetter regions may have more brake wear?

I did all 4 corners with new sensors for $250

Been running with these for about 1500 miles and they have been great.

Replaced the front pads and rotors tonight. Pretty easy job. One question though. My left pads wore faster than my right. I took some pics of inner pads on both sides.

Left inside pad. Wear was right at 3.18mm at the sensor.

Right inside pad. Wear was 5.20mm at the sensor.

I know there's usually small variations in wear but is 2mm difference acceptable? The calipers both seem fine and I noticed no binding at all.

Thoughts?

?

Not heard of this "program" before.

Where did you find out about it?

No pulling during hard braking either? I wouldn't expect that much difference - less than 1mm maybe. Were the outer pads similarly uneven on the same sides?

Do you make more right turns than left that require braking through the turn, say on a route to/from work? Not sure what else would cause such uneven wear other than maybe an air bubble in the line on the right side that causes less brake pressure to be applied, but in that case I would expect to hear and feel your ABS kick in when it shouldn't.

No pulling at all during braking. I just made an appointment with the dealer because I would like t have it documented should the brakes continue to wear and the vehicle warranty expires. The dealer tried to tell me that crown in the road could cause the uneven wear and that two techs said that the wear is most likely normal.

If the wear sensors in the pads have not had their embedded wires cut through which is what breaks the circuit and sets off the brake wear warning light, then I would suspect the electrical connection where the sensor pad wire clips into the brake sensor circuit.

Left side was cut through for sure. Wear was at 2mm, which is the service limit of the pad.
