Changing rim and tire size

I was told by the dealer that I can not change the rims from the current 18" stock to a 19" or 20" size without reprogramming the computer.

Is that correct? If so, how can I do that? Thanks for the info and help...

As long as the actual tire diameter doesn't change.... you won't need to do that.

Remember, the speedo reads about 3-miles per hour faster than you're actually traveling, so there's that margin.

If you have a 55 series tire on an 18inch wheel (stock) and move up to a 20 inch wheel with a 50 or 45 series tire, it won't have a major impact, in any, on your speedo.

Am I correct here???

Changing rim and tire size

TREGinginCO:

Thanks for the reply. That's what I think too. But that's why I was unsure after the dealer (salesperson) told me differently.

Theoretically, if the OS tire diameter doesn't change, then the speedo etc. shouldn't care what size rim the tire is on...

go to this site, fill in your original tire/rim size and and the new tire/rim size and it will calculate the difference in speed and diameter
