Upper front fender rail damage

Need to order collision parts. Looks like 7L0805191j is part of the A pillar which extends forwards into a fender rail, but you cut off however much you want to splice on. Has anyone tried to straighten out a bent rail? .
A corollary question: Is the gusset plate 7L0805111D needed to complete the fender rail? On the vehicle the rail looks to be a box section whereas the ETKA diagram appears u-shaped.

Yes. Search youtube for "Body Repair" and either Cayenne or Touareg. There is a guy in either Russia or Eastern Europe (I can't figure out where he is from) that has straighten a few of them. I cannot speak for the integrity of the finished repair, but they are interesting videos nevertheless.
