TDI storage

Hello all, I have almost 5000 miles on my 07 TDI Touareg and could not be happier with it. It is black and stripped, the only accessory being a hitch. For me it was all about the motor, I would have ordered one with roll up windows and manual locks if possible. Unfortunately I will have to put it in storage for about 3 months and am wondering if I need to do anything to it before I go.

Mainly, I am wondering if I need to do the 5000 mile check before I leave and if I should put it up on jack stands.

Thank you in advance.

will it be standing inside or outside? If outside i reccoment you put a cover over it and put anti-snail granules all around the vehicle since when i came back from my holiday the engine was all covered with those bastards (I noticed that when I was driving and the front of the car smelled like BBQ)

If it is going to be stored indoors put moth balls on the floor around it. They will keep mice from making a new home in it.
Don't do this if storing it outdoors as they are poison and a stay dog, etc. could get very sick.

Use dryer sheets (like bounce sheets) instead of moth balls..moth ball smell never goes away. Have used the dryer sheet trick in RVs for many years with total success. You can get any scent you want, and all are much more pleasant than moth balls.

I meant to put the moth balls on the floor of the garage or building not the floor of the Touareg. Perhaps you can do both.

I'd just park it some place safe in a way that you will have easy access to the jumper terminals, (by the remote chance they are required). I'd put the spare key somewhere secure where I wouldn't forget (3months is a long time for a key not to get lost). And I wouldn't get the 5k service until the car is close to 5k miles

Thank you all for the help.

The Touareg will be in my garage. I have used dryer sheets in the past and will do so again. Moth balls work great but are a little stinky. I might hit 5K but will wait until I get back since once again, time is against me. The air suspension is still a small concern for me. I have never owned anything with this type of suspension and am wondering if it will leak over time and wear out the batteries while re-inflating. If I were to attach a trickle charger, which battery should I attach it To? I believe there are two.

Again,
Thank you.

By the way, diesel is cheaper than 87 octane gas here and I have (according to the car) been blessed with 21.7 miles per gallon over the last 4900 miles.

Snails

Czech,

That snail story is horrifying, thankfully we don't have to many of them here.

Let not your heart be troubled. The air compressor will not run while the vehicle is turned off.
