Should I expect anything more than $1,500 off sticker??

Went to my local dealer today and loaded V8 (sticker approx. $53K) and they said they said they could take $1,500 off. Is this consistent with what I should expect, or should I keep looking?

It depends

If it is for an '05, it could be about right. I haven't heard anyone on the boards talking about '05 purchases. If the car is an '04, I would expect a lot more off than that.

Depends on local demand. I think on Vortex there was a Massachusetts dealer advertising $500 over INVOICE (not MSRP) on 2005 Touaregs. This is alot more than $1500 off MSRP.

I purchased my '05 for $500 under INVOICE and probably could have done it for $750 under at a sister dealership. I made the deal at the end of October.

I ALWAYS work from INVOICE. ALWAYS, my first question when starting to talk about price is: "What is your price in regard to INVOICE?". So, it makes absolutely NO difference what the options, color or features are. Often times I'll do the leg work via the phone...also, if you can force it, don't pay for advertising as it should be a normal cost of doing business so, that could be an additional $100+ savings.

To me, like banks, corn, and pork bellies, cars are commondities and are strickly a price transaction.

PS, I always let them know I'm shopping and give them only ONE shot to give me their best price...if I like a particular sales guy (often times I end up dealing with the sales manager directly) I'll offer them an opportunity to match another dealer's price to invoice or, just walk out of the dealership.

We bought our 04 Treg 2 weeks ago. It was fully loaded with options we would not have bought, if they weren't already included. The sticker was $53,000.00
We told the salesman we were just looking, which we honestly were. He called us and said he could sell it for $46,500.00, and thats WITH the 0.9% financing. Take another $1,500.00 off if we did not want the financing.
Sounds like you are not getting such a good deal. We didn't even have to negotiate, and we got a substantial savings.

I did read the posts and the original poster asked about the '05 model year. Why muddy up the thread with '04 information?

Out
