Park Assist

Does anyone know what is the verticle dispersion or coverage on the park assist sensors?

Only one way to find out: Using the buddy system:
1.Have a scale and a reference shield/object
2.Sit in Car, put in Reverse w/ Brakes pressed and hand brakes ON (dont want any accidents)
3.Have Buddy measure actual distance before beeping occurs!

G'Luck!

I think (but am not 100% sure) that it is speed dependant. If I'm coming in slowly, mine wait longer until they go off. If I'm rolling up to something and stomp on the brakes quickly I seem to have more time. I could be totally wrong but that's just what I've noticed...

I dont think Speed should have anything to do with this, cause no matter how fast or slow you are going if there is an object in your way its going to alert you right away.

Agreed but I guess what I was getting at was that it's progressive. If I pull up to a car at a stop light, it goes off quickly and gives me a few lights before the beeping. If I pull into the garage slowly, i get more lights before the beeps start. Could it have possibly changed over the years? I didn't have parking assist in my 05 but do in my '06.

I don't know but my rear parking sensor didn't seem to go off a few days after I bought my Toureg and I backed into a Pontiac in a parking lot. (It was dark out and I couldn't see it ) Anyways, I was going slow so no damage to the Touareg.

It's weird it didn't go off though, because it always does every other time.

On a related note, how come if you stop at like a stop sign does the first set of green parking assist sensors come on, even when no other cars are around?

Green means all clear - nothing detected in range of the sensors.

Why wouldn't it be green always when driving around normally then? Does it only activate under a certain speed?

Mine don't seem to be working properly. I never see green lights, only the outside red lights when I come to a stop...like at a stoplight or something. They don't even beep when I am pulling into my garage, which is a tight squeeze. How do I test them?
