Are they going to put the 6TDI in the Q5?

if I am reading your posts correctly, the "8" is gas driven and doesn't come in a diesel. The V10 (TDI) is diesel and may be what you are referring to.

You could look for a 2009 used V6TDI (probably nearly non-existent). The V10s would be easier to find used and slower depreciation (as are the V8 models). The V10 will get you 20-22mpgs average mpgs. Long trips usually 24 mpgs with the V10. You could also delve into the "green" realm of bio-diesel with the TDIs. However, simple maintainence like oil changes (easy on the V10), sounds like you would probably want to take to VW if you aren't interested in doing it. It takes 12 quarts of oil per change

Whatever you get, if you are worried about problems and the financial stretch, purchase an extended warranty (10years/100k miles) and hold on to it. I honestly can not think of a vehicle I would prefer to have over the touareg (regardless of the powerplant)!! They are classy, powerful, and fun to drive

Reread what you just said here
I honestly cannot think of a better vehicle to leave on the lot if that is the situation.

Thanks everyone...I'm trying to see if there are any 09 TDI's left around to get a deal on, but seems like most of them are optioned out like crazy - one dealer told me they never offered anything but the white color and full options on the 09 TDI - is that true??? Anyone know of a dealer in the Northeast who might have a base 09 TDI?

I've also found an 08 V8 CPO, gonna check that out too...
