New V6TDI in Queensland

Hi all. Just picked up a new V6TDI (Silver Leaf with Sunroof and Towbar) in Melbourne and drove (1800 kms) to Brisbane (home) on an Unregistered Vehicle Permit i.e. no plates. Queensland dealers had no new vehicles in stock. Great machine for long distance highway travel! Effortless overtaking of road trains etc! Took a little while to master the cruise control and stereo. Only niggles are that comfortable seat and steering wheel position for me mean upper part of instruments obscured resulting in an expensive meeting with highway patrolman. Also, the speedo intervals change from 10 to 20 km/h above the 60 kmh marker. Why does it need a 280 km/h speedo? Getting windows tinted later in the week. Will look shmick! Looking forward to heading to North Queensland next month. Great to read all your input to the Forum.

Pics in a few days, when the tinting's done. By the way, I love Tahoe. Was there in April but not with Treg.

You get used to the speedometer calibtation after a week or so of driving it. It makes sense (lots of detail below 60km/h, no as much after)..matches up with speed limits very well...at least here in canada.

that's a nice question - maybe to feel sporty?

Yea Tahoe is great, there's just something about it that centers me and its such a relaxing and beautiful place that i can see how people that have never seen it can fall in love with it.

I took a better look at mine today, seems like 10km/h increments up to 200kms, then 320 on the top end. 320 sounds delicious ....must have been my old V6 that was metered the same as yours.

Suggest you do a GPS test on your speedo. If like my 3x VW's, they all read about 5-7kph higher than indicarted, i.e my 100kmh speedo indicated is GPS 95kph actual. Good safety margin!

Mine is right on now that I changed tire sizes. I am running a 245/70/17 tire now which puts it dead on.
