Great Dealer Service!

I purchased a brand new 2004 V8 Touareg two weeks ago from Team Volkswagon in Hayward, Ca. The transaction was very smooth and easy, and I paid $3500 under invoice. When I got home, I noticed that I did not have the Torchlight. I contacted the dealership and inquired about it. I was told that they were not included anymore. The dealership told me that they would order me one and send it out free of charge. Tonight at 8:30pm my doorbell rang and it was my salesman. He hand delivered the Torchlight! I live about a half hour away from the dealership. Thats what I call service. They will be getting a nice letter and additional business from me.

Never got one and not aware of what it is. Some sort of light?

It's a small flashlight that plugs into the cigarette lighter port on the right side of your shifter. It replaces that "12V" plug. It's really a cool little light.

If you didn't get it from your dealer, you should get it from VW. All Touareg owners get one.

Not true anymore. The promotion for the flashlights is over, so any recent Touareg purchaser should not expect one. The ones being sent now are to catch up on all of the owners who purchased when the promotion was in effect.

Of course if you can talk your salesman into giving you one, then go for it, but either get the flashlight in your hand or get the salesman to put it in writing. If he says you will get one from VWoA, then don't beleive him. VWoA got a big black eye on thier handling of this, so I'm sure they want to get out of the free flashlight biz as soon as possible.

Either way you slice it.... this is a great example of customer service.

Three cheers for Team Volkswagen in Hayward.... this is the way it should be.

Other dealerships who need a little "schooling" - use this as an example.

"Big Black Eye" it was. It took them 6 months and from what I hear...it took longer for others. Its only $30 but promise is a promise!
