Got the Word from VWoA

Got the call from VWoA. They are refunding my down payment, all my monthly payments, all the money I spent of accessories and maintenance. They replaced my first T-Reg V8 and now are buying back my second one. Don't know what to buy next.

Whats your story?

I'm thinking of ordering a V10.

Plot lines like this give me pause.

TNT,

Better act now or else you'll only have pictures and other owners' stories. The V10s are so few in numbers (420 04's and 420 05's) that you won't be able to actually order one. Others claim they have but all they have done is manage to be lucky enough to be the first in line for one that's been allocated to a dealer. Better find a dealer that knows it is going to get one and get cozy or you'll be waiting until 2006.

Not true in my area. I heard yesterday that Denver has 6 2004 V10s they can't give away. Pueblo has 1 that has been there forever. The V10s are all over the place and depreciating like a rock. Buy used. Saw a white V10 on cars.com with every available option and 4K miles. MSRP was 66K. They were asking $57K for it. Most likely will get about 54 or 55K for it. Wholesale/auction value is anywhere between $38K and $47K for a 2004 V10 with 8-10K miles on it. Much worse for V6 and V8 models.

T-Reg Lemon

My first T-Reg was in the shop for 35+ days for electrical problems. The second one was in 4 seperate times for a broken A/C. It's been in since August 27th....with no word from the dealer. The regional VW quality guy got me my first replacement. He was very nice and accommodating....I didn't need an attorney. After I started having problems with my 2nd T-Reg, he wouldn't return my calls. After it was in for about 35 days, I was mentioning it to a client of mine (who happens to be an attorney) and he said his boss' wife had an 04 Touareg with problems and that he got him a replacement 05. He said he would handle mine and he sent VWoA a demand for payment letter and they responded within a day saying they would refund all my money. I was lucky since my 2nd T-reg was just under 18,000 miles which is the limit for miles under the Ohio Lemon Law. If you legitimately have a lemon (which you do in Ohio by what you have said), I would determine what you want (replacement or refund) and try and find a lawyer that you trust (doesn't have to be a lemon law lawyer). Have him or her send an official letter, it will get results. Let me know if you need the name of the VW person who handles this, I can get it for you. Good Luck.

thanks for you reply. In NJ to be considered a lemon, the car has to be in service for over 30 consecutive days..which mine does not meet...or if you have the same problem more than 3 times..My Tire Pressure Monitor meets that requirement. So I am pushing VW on that issue. We probably had over 15 issues so far with the vehicle. At this point, i dont want to take my chances on an '05..just not worth the potential hassle...even though i love the way it drives, etc. I havent hired an attorney yet, but that is my next step. thanks again for your help.

THECOOLER,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. It seems those complaints are quite common. I think the Touareg had such great potential, but it's full of all kinds of problems. My V10 will be gone in the next week or so as well. Take care and good luck with your next vehicle.

The VIN on the Pueblo V10 is 86523. It certainly hasn't been there that long. Maybe they sold the first one they had and got another.

Not sure where you are finding the 6 in Denver. Mountain State, Lithia and McDonald don't have any. Tynans lists two available. Both 86xxx VINs. Osborn has two available. An 85xxx VIN and a 50xxx VIN. The 50xxx VIN may be used by the manager as it only mention "contact us" for a price.

The gentleman looking at my Touareg said McDonald and Lithia had one each. That was on Saturday. However he may have been referring to them being there in the last week. He's the one that's been looking and said they had been there for quite some time. I was only stating what he said and he was saying they are all over the place. The auction I'm taking mine to says the market is bad for them. The depreciation is almost Kia-like and everyone is scared of them. It's worse with the v8s and V6s. 20-35% in 5 months is some pretty bad depreciation in anybody's book!!!
