Downshifting Issues

I now feel like I am getting closer to the issue with my reg with the responses I received; however, was wondering if anyone has any idea what the Valve body replacement cost, as I had gone ahead and repaired the drive shaft for a whopping CA$1300 plus labour!
Just need an idea of what my expense might be

just replaced mine with a unit from Tim at capitol VW in CA, very helpful, around $1100 USD.
The unit supplied was phisically different from the old one so perhaps the manufacturer has improved the design.
My spanner man took many hours for the change-over and commented in the negative to its ease, spouting further obsence utterances upon finding the unit un-matched from the original.
It fitted OK though, and has proved trouble free for a week now, shifts smooth as new and has stopped shuddering and alternating in RPM as well.
