I'm looking at a 2006 V10 TDI and one of the concerns I have with the vehicle is that both headlamps appear to have a small amount of condensation or fogging in the front interior of the lens. I spoke with the dealer and they said that the headlamps were vented and the condensation would dissipate.

However, the owner said that the headlamps have been that way for approximately a year. Doesn't sound like a temporary condition to me.

Any insights on this??

Thanks in advance!

Just new to this forum. I have an 04 V8 touareg with 75000km, that is shifting hard , especially when coming to a stop. Took it to the closest VW dealer 5 months ago and they said nothing was wrong. Took it back last week , first they said they could not get it to shift hard. I told them to take for a longer drive, I came back a couple of hours later they told me the mechanic had it happen to him. Mechanic says the transmission is hooped and should be replaced. I have read many older posts from 04 owners with this problem just wondering if anybody found out what was causing it . Not sure how you decide that the transmission is failed without looking into the problem at all.

Did a quick search and found very little.
I'm a big VAG guy, own a stage 3 B5 S4 and a 06 A3 non-sport. Looking to sell the A3 and buy a T1 v10 TDI. I admittidly don't know much about the v10 or any issues it has and am trying to do some research and decide if it's something I even want to get into (still open to VR6 and V8s).
I figured who'd know better than T-reg entheusiasts!
Any tips on what to look for when purchasing? Ideal maintenance items on the record? Any help or schooling on the V10 or suggestions on other engine types is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Hello Guys,

A couple days ago I got the "Key Battery Low" message so I swung by Canadian Tire and picked up a fresh new C2032 battery. Popped it in but now the message changed to "Key Battery Emtpy". The funny thing is that all the key fob functions work from a good distance away and the keyless entry and keyless start all work fine as well.

Could it just be that I need to VAG-COM into it to erase the message?

TIA for the help. I'm a bit stumped by this one.

So I've got these spare parts. Four came with the new egg sealed in a plastic bag and I have never been able to figure what they were for. They appear to be some kind of "delete" panel approximately the same size as the 110v outlet in the back. There are tabs on the underside that would seem to coincide with the thickness of the rear plastic/felt-ish panels.

Just purchased a 2005 V8 with 42K miles and love it. Brought it home yesterday and noticed a sloshing sound coming from underneath the drivers side when coming to an abrupt stop. I quickly ran inside and did a quick search and found the answer in this forum (thanks). I removed two of the plugs under the drivers side and sure enough out comes about half a gallon of water. I took the forward most plug inside to clean it as it has some type of draining mechanism. Regardless, I would like to purchase new drain plugs for both sides. Anyone know if these are sold? Thanks

G'day,

when I turned on the air con yesterday with full fan, it sounded like the fan suddenly died of. The display still showed full bars, but I couldn't hear the blower or feel any air. After turning it off and waiting a few minutes it worked again.

Problem occurred once again later so far.

A day before I had the brake pressure thrust sensor G 201 replaced which is on the brake cylinder. I was wondering if it could be related.

Just seems incidental that it happens now.

VAGCOM comes up with "Defroster Flap Positioning Motor Fault".
Anyone know what that means and what that thing does?
